Background: Osteopontin, OPN （designated Nephropontin or Secreted phosphoprotein 1, SPP-1 ）. Binds tightly to hydroxyapatite. Appears to form an integral part of the mineralized matrix. Probably important to cell-matrix interaction.

Acts as a cytokine involved in enhancing production of interferon-gamma and interleukin-12 and reducing production of interleukin-10 and is essential in the pathway that leads to type I immunity. Extensively phosphorylated on serine residues.

Belongs to the osteopontin family.

The lyophilized antibody is stable at room temperature for at least one month and for greater than a year when kept at -20ºC. When reconstituted in sterile pH 7.4 0.01 M PBS or diluent of antibody to 0.2ml, the antibody is stable for at least six weeks at 2-4 ºC.
